Happy Holidays (a little late)

I hope those of you who celebrated Christmas spent happy holidays full of joy and harmony with their beloved ones. This sunset occurred some days ago when a storm was coming. The colors were really spectacular.

Hey there, please excuse my infrequent blogging… But I'm still there :) These paper lanterns are the decoration of a great snack bar in Munich called "Fei scho" that offers Dim Sum with a bavarian touch.

back skiing

This weekend I returned on my cross country skis for the first time after my injury and I enjoyed every moment of it (even though my foot hurt). The conditions were wonderful - lots of snow and sun :)

still there

i'm still around even though it might not seem so :) the last weeks have been full of work and a little bit of traveling (I went to Romania again and came back with all bones unbroken!!)) and somehow the month of September passed without any posting... I will try to log more frequently again :)

Summer time

Finally, summer has come to full force here - and I am (more or less) healed. I am back at work and terribly busy there (hence my break from blogging) - but I still need my crutches for longer distances. I took this picture of an old watering can in May in Badeni in Romania.

another rainy day

today it's raining cats and dogs here - therefore I chose this picture from Bucharest taken about one year ago. In the background you can see the Palace of the Parliament (formerly known as Casa Poporului). It's one of the largest buildings of the world. In fact the rainy weather doesn't really affect me (I'm still blocked at my parents' home with my broken feet), but some sun would be much more pleasant...

old and new

this picture was taken in the historic center of Bucharest - in top of it you can see old painted advertisements of the shop that used to be there, a "librarie" that sold anything you need for writing and drawing, school books, CDs and bags, too. I really liked this shop, but it was closed. Below these paintings are modern posters advertising concerts. (and yes, I'm still at home with two injured feet which is quite unpleasant)

Johnny

This post was inspired by Talon who posted a poem about a corvid yesterday. :) Johnny is a mischievous crow that used to come to our garden in the last months. I think he was brought up by humans and then released to live alone in the wild. Whenever Johnny came around something happened... PS: I'm glad that you liked Johnny :) Unfortunately, he disappeared some weeks ago. I'm still waiting for him to return, because it was always fun to watch him. He's very playful and likes garden tools very much.

Impressions

from Badeni where I went about 3 weeks. We played domino there and enjoyed the garden which is full of walnut, almond, cherry and peach trees. PS: I'm still at home waiting for the healing of my bones.

Badeni

These pictures give an impression of the beautiful view that I wrote about in my last post. PS: The result of my visit to the hospital yesterday: the CT showed that 5 of my tarsal bones are broken in several places :( (but I don't need an operation)

on the road to Badeni

Saturday 18.05.13 we made a trip to Badeni which is located about 80 km from Bucharest. It's a small village that has remained almost unchanged during the last years of fast change. What is special about this place is its location between the mountains and the flat land below. The view over the seemingly endless plains is quite spectacular. I took the pictures in today's post on the way there while we were still driving through the plain in our 41-year-old Dacia car. PS: Thank you very much for your good wishes.I'm still on bed rest. Tomorrow they'll examine my foot by MRT...

this snowfall made me think of the fairy tale of Mother Hulda (in German: Frau Holle). It took only 5 minutes to cover everything in snow...

remembering warmer days

in the middle of winter. As I like skiing very much I still support the snow quite well (but warmer days seem so far away...) The picture shows a breakfast we took in Strasbourg last year in october.

Hinterzarten-Schluchsee

Last Saturday me and a friend went on a skiing tour from Hinterzarten to Schluchsee. It's a classic tour of about 32 km. The conditions were wonderful - we had 1,50 metres of new snow and lots of sunshine. The first picture shows the Raimartihof which is close to the Feldberg (you reach it after 10 km). The second picture shows the valley of Menzenschwand. The third picture was taken close to Farnwitte (km 14). The last pictures waren taken at the Roßhütte after 20 km.
