I've never heard that before. Cherries are one of my favorite local fruits in season (here they tend to come out in July) and now I'll be thinking twice before biting into one ;)

Maybe I should have written about the german name...it is Herzkirschen (Herz = heart, Kirschen = cherries), that would have been nicer :-)
